What is the Outlook Setup Assistant?
The Outlook Setup Assistant is a lightweight client app that automatically creates an Outlook profile. This tool is for anyone who moved from Workspace Email to Microsoft 365 and uses Outlook for Windows.
If your email uses POP settings, the Outlook Setup Assistant will attach a local copy of your previous PST to your new Outlook profile. This means you'll have a second inbox called Old_POP and your email address. For example, if your email is firstname.lastname@example.org, the inbox would be called Old_POP email@example.com. This inbox contains your previous email, and all incoming email will go to your new, primary inbox.

Who can use the Outlook Setup Assistant?
The Outlook Setup Assistant is for anyone with an email account affected by the move from Workspace Email to Microsoft 365. It supports the following configurations:
- Windows 7, 8, and 10.
- Outlook for Windows including versions 2013, 2016, and 2019.
- Microsoft 365 license types that support client-level Exchange access.
- .Net Framework 4.6.
The Outlook Setup Assistant isn't available for Linux, Outlook for Mac, and anyone using Outlook 2010 or older. In those cases, we recommend setting up your email client with Exchange or updating to the latest version of Outlook.
