Why do I need to remove my domain from Microsoft?

Since we’re moving you from Workspace Email to Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy, you need to remove your domain from your previous Microsoft 365 account with Microsoft. Otherwise, we can’t set up your email accounts with GoDaddy. But we got you - we're here to help! Select a question to see its answer:

Why am I being moved from Workspace Email to Microsoft 365?

We’re retiring Workspace Email and are no longer releasing new features. To provide you with the best email experience, we started the process of moving customers to Microsoft 365 with its latest features and security updates. Why do I need to remove my domain from Microsoft?

If your domain’s attached to your previous Microsoft 365 account at Microsoft, we can't set up your email with Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy. Your domain might be attached to an account with Microsoft if you've purchased Microsoft 365 or signed up for a free trial.

How do I remove my domain from Microsoft?

Follow the steps to remove your domain from Microsoft, or select Contact Us on the Remove your domain from Microsoft page to walk through it with our bot. After you’ve removed the domain, you can start sending and receiving emails with Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy.

What happens if I don't remove my domain?

If you don't remove your domain from your Microsoft 365 account at Microsoft, you can't use Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy. If your domain isn't removed from Microsoft after you move to Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy, you’ll lose access to the mailboxes associated with the domain. Workspace Email is removed from your account 14 days after the transition, so you’ll also be at risk of losing mail flow to your mailboxes.

If you'd like to regain access to the mailboxes associated with your domain and fix issues with mail flow after your transition, go to your Email & Office Dashboard. In the red banner, select Help me fix this.

What if I can't sign in to my Microsoft 365 account at Microsoft?

If you're having issues signing in to your Microsoft 365 account or accessing the Microsoft 365 admin center, contact Microsoft for help.

How do I know it worked?

After removing your domain, you can check if your domain's still with Microsoft by going to the Remove your domain from Microsoft page. Under Check if your domain's still with Microsoft, enter your domain name. The tool will tell you if your domain was successfully removed and is no longer with Microsoft.

What if I am no longer using my Workspace Email?

You can cancel your Workspace Email product. Contact our GoDaddy Guides to get in-store credit for the remaining time on your paid Workspace Email subscription.
